At First Chapter Films, we focus on quality over quantity. Every wedding is captured by a dedicated team, with a minimum of two team members present and only one wedding booked per day. This allows us to give your wedding our complete attention and capture every important moment from multiple perspectives.

The people you meet with before your wedding are the same people who will be there on the day capturing it. We don't outsource your wedding to random contractors or send unfamiliar faces in our place. As the owners and creatives behind First Chapter Films, we're personally invested in every wedding we film and photograph.

We also believe that every couple has a unique story to tell. Rather than creating cookie-cutter wedding films that all feel the same, we work closely with our couples to create something personal and meaningful. We encourage you to share your ideas, inspirations, and vision so we can craft a film that truly reflects your personalities and your wedding day.

Is having three videographers overkill?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Having three cinematographers allows us to capture more angles, more reactions, and more moments throughout your wedding day. While one team member may be focused on the main event, the others can capture guest reactions, candid moments, details, and alternative perspectives.
It also provides an extra layer of coverage for important moments and gives us greater creative flexibility when crafting your final film. The result is a more complete, immersive, and cinematic representation of your wedding day.

Can we build a package that suits us?

Accepted Answer

Yes we can, while we believe our packages provide everything you may need, we know you might have some ideas or requirments that we have not included. We are happy to work with you and create that perfect package to suit your wedding. 
Examples: multiple day weddings, longer form films, additional hours, additional videographers etc.

Question 4

How long does it take to receive our photos and video?

Your wedding photos and films are delivered in stages so you can relive your day as soon as possible.
We typically deliver a sneak peek and teaser first, followed by your full photo gallery and edited wedding film once the full editing process is complete.
Our editing process is careful and detailed, as we believe your memories deserve time and attention to be crafted properly rather than rushed. We aim for a delivery timeframe of 2–3 months for your full gallery and film, depending on the season and workload, and we’ll always keep you updated along the way so you know exactly what stage your wedding story is at.
The end result is a complete collection of both photos and films that tell your story in a timeless and cinematic way.

Question 5

Do we need to organise meals for the crew?

Yes, we do ask that meals are provided for our crew.
We’re with you throughout the entire day capturing every part of your wedding, and because the schedule is often full from start to finish, there isn’t usually a natural break for us to stop and eat until dinner time.
Most of the time, we don’t eat until the reception meal is served, so having a vendor meal provided is greatly appreciated and helps us stay focused on documenting your day without interruption.

Will there be any travel costs for our wedding location?

Travel is included for weddings within 35km of either Melbourne or Geelong CBD, depending on which side of town your location is closest to.
For weddings outside this radius, a small travel fee is charged per kilometre beyond 35km from either Melbourne or Geelong CBD.
We always calculate this fairly based on the most practical travel route to your venue and will confirm any travel costs with you upfront during the booking process, so there are no surprises.

How do you work alongside our photographer on the day?

We see photography and videography as equally important parts of your wedding story, and we work closely alongside your photographer to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.
Over the years, we’ve built strong working relationships with a number of photographers and are always happy to collaborate with your chosen team. If you already have a photographer booked, we’ll connect with them ahead of time where possible to go through timelines, key moments, and how we can best work together without getting in each other’s way.
We also offer combined photo and video packages with select photographers we regularly work with, which can make the planning process even easier.
Our goal is always the same: to work as a team so your day is captured beautifully from every angle without anything feeling staged or interrupted.

Do we get to meet before the big day?

Yes, absolutely.
We believe it’s important to connect before your wedding day so we can get to know you, understand your vision, and go through all the key details of your plans. This helps ensure everything runs smoothly and that we’re aligned on what matters most to you.
We’re happy to meet in person or via video call, whatever is easiest for you. It’s also a great opportunity to talk through your day, answer any questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with us before the big day arrives.

What will you be wearing on the wedding day?

We like to be comfortable while working. Usually, we wear “dress smart”, or nice black polo shirts which ensures we blend in with your wedding guests, and so our presence is as non-intrusive as possible.

Will we get a sneak peek, and can we request changes?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely.

We provide a sneak peek so you can relive some of your wedding moments soon after the day. Your preview will be shared via Vimeo, Google Drive, or YouTube depending on the project and what works best for delivery.

You’re also welcome to request changes. We include one round of revisions at no extra cost. After that, additional major changes may incur a fee, depending on the scope of the edit. Smaller adjustments, such as removing a single clip, adjusting timing, or minor text changes are generally not charged.

For both your film and photography, we approach edits with care to ensure everything feels natural and true to your day. Because of this, revision requests are usually focused on small refinements rather than major creative changes, helping us maintain the integrity of your final gallery and film while still making sure you’re happy with the result.

Question 11

Can we pick the music for our film?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! We understand the importance of personalising your project, and music plays a significant role in creating the right atmosphere. We can provide you a link to our music library where you can search for your perfect song. Please note, our music library contains royalty free music which we pay a license to use. We try to avoid using mainstream copyrighted music.
